Anyone...

... know any good films / book / websites?

I am bored and in need of new stuff to fill my brain up.

And Lord Save me from Myself

Well at least I'm not bored anymore. Embarrased... ashamed... but not bored. I have been told that I was way out there on Saturday night and doing things that I don't have any memory of by my husband. Not good. Not good because I have always poo pooed the idea that you forget things when you are drunk, I have always kept quite a decent memory of nights out, even when at my most blasted. But not this weekend. Either somebody spiked my drink or I am getting too old for this. I dare say its the latter.

It started in the Red Onion, we didn't arrive until about 11pm as we'd been at home entertaining my in-laws who had recently arrived on the island. I was well oiled by the time I left the flat but certainly not loopy/deranged at that point. The Red Onion was its usual classy self, saw a few old school buddies that I hadn't caught up with for nearly a decade. By this point I was well on my way and asked one of them how her baby was. ("He's 9 years old now Sam" was the answer.) It was raining heavily and to add dramatic emphasis there was also thunder and lightning. Ooooooooh, storminess.

Well that's where the blurriness starts, we left the Red Onion and I have memories of visiting both Barbados and Folies, of stroking a plastic kestrel and a few other bits and pieces. but Nick's filled me in - apparentely I let a big black man put his arms around my waist on the Barbados dance floor which I found hilarious for some reason and I invited a girl called Anna back for a few drinks to our flat but fell asleep as soon as she sat down and left poor Nick up chatting to her when he doesn't know her at all.

But no bones were broken or wallets lost. All I can say is I had a killed hangover yesterday and had to try and pull myself together for the sake of our visitors. I managed to get through a three course lunch at the Fermain Valley Hotel (which btw is GORGEOUS and cost only £14.95 - if you haven't been you really must make the effort) without vomiting and we saw one of those hummingbord moths that my blogging friend Catherine has been going on about. And then I curled up on the sofa for about 7 hours. Daughter-in-law duties will commence shortly.
Also, I have developed a weird second pulse in my left ear, but that seems to have gone again today. Hmmm.

Lord save me from Boredom

Ach, its another Saturday at work. I dragged myself up out of a warm bed and left Nick asleep in it, had a long shower which made me late and I've had to come in with still-wet hair.

Before I left I also had to deal with the three piles of cat sick left dotted around the hallway. Poor Molly she seems to get furballs SO often. Nick grooms her all the time and I always mash up her food with a fork but it just doesn't seem to make much difference. The vet gave me some laxatives for her but I don't really like to give those to her.

So anyway, I'm a bit tired, more than a bit bored, and also hungry because I didn't have time for any breakfast. Counting the minutes until 1pm...

Nick went out the other night so I stayed in and watched 'Battle Royale', an excellent film which if you haven't seen it you really must. Its Japanese (with subtitles) and is set in the near future, when Japanese youth culture has become out of hand and the young aren't respecting their elders. So the Government decide that there will be an annual lottery to choose a class of children to make and example of. This class are drugged on a coach while they think they are being taken on a school trip and wake up on an island all wearing strange dog collars. The premise is that they have 3 days to kill everyone and there can be only one survivor or else the collars will explode, killing them all. OK, its a little bit dated but its sickly funny, black humour at its best and it really puts you in the place and makes you think 'what the hell would I do if I had to kill all my friends just to stay alive?' Nasty. Also, there is a really fit guy who plays a complete psycho, not that I'm into psychos but he was fit.

I've been playing around on myspace (I have a page! Check out the link to 'my other website') and thanks to my mate Tabilda I've found some really funny blogs to read. Girl with a one track mind is very good.

Click here for some genius entertainment. Ben Stiller rocks.

Some gratuitous cat for your Friday afternoon

If I did this to Molly she would have one of her freak outs. We actually tried to give her an orange helmet the other night, but she was most against the idea.

Do you know...

I have inadvertently passed the 200th blog mark without so much as a by or leave? This makes me feel pretty much the same way I felt when I passed the 100 mark. A little bit proud and more than a little bit geeky.

Anyway, somehow I'm up to 210 and still going strong. Time will tell if I can keep up the pace but I think that unless I change jobs then I'm likely to keep on going. Seeing as I have so much spare time and unlimited use of the internet. My boss doesn't know how to switch on the computers, let alone surf the web.

Yesterday I went to the gym after work for another work out. We are starting slowly, due to the fact we are both unfit and don't want to shock our systems into cardiac arrest, and going up by about 5 minutes each time we visit. So, at the moment we are doing 35 minute workouts. By workout, I'm not sure if we're doing exactly the right thing but we are getting hot and sweaty so I guess we're along the right lines.

And then I went off to see the Black Dahlia at 9:15, which is a ridiculous time to start a film and it was all I could do to keep my eyes open. But because it was a very good film I just about managed. It is very well shot with lots of pretty scenery and contains very sexy people. The plot is fairly followable and not exactly shocking but there are a few good twists and turns. It was nice to see Hilary Swank dressed feminely and not as a dirty little boy for a change. She looked hot, but not as hot as Scarlett, and they were both superseeded by the hottness of Josh, who I have not previously fancied but now I do.

Supercalafragalisticexpealludocious

Its Wednesday already, that's half a week just gone in a flash. And we've got what I can now officially call the 'IN-LAWS' around this weekend for a few days. So you know what that means - I have to put my tidy hat on and blitz the place before they arrive. But that's fine cos its quite tidy.

I found some little paw prints up my white wall the other day - we have this big Thai embroidery wall hanging up and it looks like Molly had been jumping up at it while we were out. I hope she doesn't ruin it! I remember when I was a bridesmaid for my friend Catherine, I had the bridesmaid dress in my spare room hanging up on the back of the door in a clear plastic carrier. Anyway the carrier was open at the bottom and she climbed into it and started clawing at the dress because I wasn't paying her enough attention. I think I was drying my hair at the time. Luckily there were only a couple of small snags in it - it was a silk dress you know.

Off to the gym again then I have to cook a dinner with no carbs because our instructor says having carbs after a work out is bad. So I'm planning a tuna salad with carrots and eggs, kind of a nicoise but without the new potatoes and olives cos I don't have any. A poor mans nicoise if you like. I just hope it fills us up because we both are complete hoovers when it comes to food.

Then I'm planning to go to the Mallard to see the Black Dahlia, which looks quite good actually. I will let you know!

More gymmy gym gym

SO we went again last night and twas hardcore. I had sweat marks on my stomach for godssake.

Thinking about Black Dahlia-ing this week some time with Rachel possibly.

Arrrrrr, shiver me timbers etc etc tis talking like a PIRATE and stuff today- ha harrrrrrrr!

Had a great fantastic weekend.

Friday night went out for a very civilised meal with Sue & Laurie and drinks afterwards. Tried not to get too carried away with the fact they've just got engaged and its all very exciting.

Saturday night a girlsome soiree at Sarahs flat. She is 8 weeks away from giving birth and we are all slightly in awe. We all sat around, ate junk and watched the final of Maria on BBC1. Then as only Amay & I were drinking we managed to polish off all the booze in the house and ended up tottering into town to meet up with Sig & Gareth then all back to our place until about 4:30. ZZzzzzz. My terrible guilty secret from that night is that.......

I smoked.

I know, horrendous ... hideous.... awful.

But it won't happen again because I felt to disgustinglyupset with myself afterwards. Gross gross gross. I could smell it on my fingers the next morning. I'm very disappointed in my drunk self because I hadn't had a fag since New Years Eve.

Ah well onwards and upwards.

Alex & Jess's Wedding in St Ives!

Itsh only muddy Friday

Yays and big ups for the weekend.

A quiet few days... lots of sleep and TV and we're going to the gym then out for a meal tonight. Food. Mmmmmm.

Watched the new episode of Extras last night guest starring Orlando Bloom... genius! I didn't really watch the last series but I think I will try to watch this one as it was very very funny.

I left the bedroom door open the other day and Molly snuck in and left a poo skid on the duvet. A poo skid! I thought cats were supposed to be clean creatures?? She didn't seem embarrased when I pointed it out to her either.

Itchy Forehead

Thats fore...HEAD. Stop thinking dirty thoughts.

That's just because I have a small fan pointed at me and it's wafting my hair around which is tickling my face as I write this.

I'm being distracted. The point of this blog entry was to write about my weekend just gone. It was a loooooong weekend, starting on Thursday night with a flight to Southampton and dinner at my husbands folks house.

On Friday, we furniture shopped (yawn) and clothes shopped (yay!!!) then drove down to old Devonshire land in the afty for a crafty Chinese takeaway and a very chilled out night at my Dad's cottage. Then on the Saturday we pegged it down to Cornwall, to just west of St Ives to a campsite of coolness and our mates incredible wedding.

The wedding was held in a very King Arther circular marquee, festooned with fairy lights and bright flowers. The men all wore summery linen suits with sandals and bright silk ties in various colours. The bride.... Wow. She designed the dress and it was a stunning red silk with a massive peacock style multicoloured indian bustle at the back. Amazing. Her three bridesmaids had henna on their feet and pretty indian dresses and they all had bare feet and real star fish in their hair. It was all very very cool. And there were a bunch of people there from Uni so it was a lovely reunion as well. Drunk!!

I drove all the way back with a hangover on Sunday to Southampton, bit of a long drive but nice to get up to speeds above 40mph! (Guernseys speed limit is 35. Can you imagine?)

Then yesterday, Monday, we found a nice dining table and chairs in Southampton and they are going to deliver it here to Guernsey next week. Great!

I have also just found a bunch of people on myspace which is veeeeerrrrrrry exciting as I haven't heard from them in years and years! Am slowly coming around to the whole myspace phenomenom.

Fuck Badgers

It's still not open.

So I went to Claires Accesories instead and bought a few dubious items. Including two hair band things, some luridly bright earrings and a pair of black sticks with feathers on the ends that you stick in your hair. Have just tried them on in the toilet and they look a bit shit, to be honest. As do the hairbands. Bit of a waste of time and money then.

This, by the way, is because I'm going to a wedding on Saturday in Cornwall and my outfit is black and white. I needed something to go with it either in the hair or ears. If I have time though I will look in Southampton on Friday morning.

H&M/Accesorize get ready here I come..........

I heard a rumour...

... that Monsoon / Accessorize opens today in the High Street.

I am off to check if this rumour has any grounding in fact. Will report back soon.

Silent Hill

Watched this film last night, it was very gory and horrible yet highly enjoyable. very very visual and visceral. We went to Sid and Westy's flat to see it on the GINORMOUS telly and sat all in the dark watching it together. Nick & I used to play the game when we were at Uni and used to freak ourselves out by playing it with the curtains drawn in the dark. Ahhh, those were the days.

On a lighter note it is a gorgeously hot late summers day and I think we shall have quiche and salad for tea sat outside on our new table and chairs. I also have some pears that I stole from a house we took on that I apparentely have to poach because they are 'cooking' pears. I didn't know you could get a cooking pear?

I spent most of the weekend asleep so I can't really report back much on that. We are supposedly joining the gym tomorrow.

Run Indy, Run!

I poached this from b3ta's mutated monkey.. aint it special.

Mouth like an Old Sock

We went out last night and now I have to work. So far the morning hasn't started so well. The phone was ringing as I walked through the door and it was one of those 'difficult' ones where they are sharing just that bit too much personal information. Its like, sure, I can put your house on the market, just tell me the details. I reeeeeeeally don't need to know all this personal stuff about your private life.

Sigh.

Anyway, I feel hungover, again. Hence the title of this blog, But don't feel sorry for me as its my own fault. I drank 5 pints, 5! I normally stop after 2 and switch to whisky & coke. I think I just forgot to do that. But I've had a cup of tea and a bowl of coco pops which has perked me up and I know by early afternoon I will be fine. I think tonight it would be nice to have just maybe Rachel around and we can watch Firefly episodes together. Nick and I are going to go shopping this afternoon for sportswear... thats right you read that right!! Am going to buy outfits for the gym, as all I have is absolutely nothing. And you really can't wear denim to cycle in, lets just say it chafes. So some comfy troos and a couple of tops. Christ, I only have fashion trainers, I might have to get a proper pair of those as well?

We met some really lovely new people last night, hopefully we'll see them again soon. What I loved about the girl was that she is an RS teacher so we drunkenly gabbled on about stuff for ages, you know what its like. I was regaling my Scientology experience from San Francisco, (nb the long shot is that it is a total con... sorry Tom Cruise / John Travolta but there you have it) and she knows a lot about Buddhism which I find fascinating.

PS the friends situation might have resolved itself? As friend No.2 has called it off... We shall see.

Getting Fit

I am quite excited because we might be joining a health club! I know, it's all a bit ridiculous but it's really REALLY close to our home and its not like a normal smelly gym, its all nice and new and pretty and they give you fresh towels.

It is a bit expensive but we agreed on the honeymoon that we would both make an effort when we got back to do more exercise. Its only £5 more expensive per month than Beau Sejour and its true that we both need to get fit. Although I have started to go out for bike rides. I went after work yesterday in fact, and cycled along the sea front and around L'Ancresse. The problem was that it was 'flying ant' day, you know, the day when there are thousands of ants taking to the skies? They kept landing on me and flying into my face. Luckily I had my big sunglasses on so none in the eyes but I was pulling them out of my hair and out of my top for about an hour afterwards!! Gross. And I ate perhaps a hundred blackberries. They are just ripening at the moment, although some were still a bit hard and bitter.

Anyway, this place has a pool, sauna, steam room, gym and tennis court, plus nice shampoos and, as I said, complimentary towels and robes. And it never gets busy because they limit the membership so you don't have to queue for the machines. I'm not really a gym type person at all so this is the sort, if any, that could change me around on that. They also do facials but that's extra. Tempting though.

So we're out tonight to celebrate my friends' engagement then I'm working tomorrow morning. If it is really quiet I will write some more of the honeymoon story.
