Have some baby pictures...

Hiya, here are some photos of my new second cousin, who I think is going to be named Harrison James Smith, although Nicky & Paul keep changing their minds.
I love the name Harrison, clearly because I love Harrison Ford, at least in his Star Wars/Indiana Jones days. And it would be Harry for short, which naturally again I like because it is Wizard-y.
I went out last night to the Mariners on the Bridge with Nick, James & Rachel. I was driving so did not really want to partake in any of the kareoke that was going down. Some of the folk in that pub take it very seriously. Anyway I left at midnight to come home but could not sleep very well. So then I get a drunken phone call from Nick and then eventually he comes home and I wake up briefly again at that point. So all in all I feel quite sleepy today. Molly did her usual alarm cat thing this morning with the yowling. She always sounds like she is being tortured the other side of the door but then you open the door and she becomes all quiet and pleased with herself.
I had a really nice chat to my sister last night as well, she seems to be doing so well looking after her twins, I can't begin to imagine how tired out she must be. Babies babies everywhere! Lots of my friends are having babies. Leni is also pregnant, due in December.
Currently I am loving Flight of the Conchords, check it out! They are awesome. On BBC4 at the moment but I am pretty sure they will make it across to BBC1 or 2 soon.

I'm going to die and go to Hell

Because I laughed at this HORROR until I was nearly sick. (It needs sound.)

In other news, it is really cold, rainy, autumnal day today. I am wearing a big Winter coat for the first time!

My cousin Nicky gave birth very early this morning to a healthy baby boy, 8lb16oz (!!) no name yet but they're both doing OK after a long and difficult labour. I was convinced it was going to be a girl and have been thoroughly proved wrong.

I am killing time, it's 9 minutes to 5pm, COME ON!!

Weekly Round Up

So, I have been spending far too much time on facebook these days. I think that it is a good tool, I have found so many people on there (145 friends and counting) and, well basically, we are rather quiet at the moment and it keeps me sane. Thank God for scrabulous. Anyone reading this fancy a game?

OOh I just made eye contact with a large man walking past my office. Accidentely. It was a little bit scary. He didn't smile or anything.

Nick is away this weekend in London with Steve, Molly & I are keeping each other company. She was singing her yowl yowl yowl song outside my bedroom door this morning, like a fucked up dawn chorus. I went out to the Swan last night but didn't stay out late as I have to work today and then tonight there is this BBQ party thing and I need my beauty sleep these days.

Highlights of the past week include going to the Claddagh pub on Tuesday night to catch up with Sue & Laurie after their honeymoon, and having Chris & Sonia around for dinner on Thursday night. I cooked seafood paella followed by a blackberry & apple pie from berries that I picked and apples that I scrumped! Yum! So I have had a nice week seeing lots of people, and the week is not yet over. I wish I didn't feel knackered though!

Bjorn has lent me the first series of Prison Break, as I have never seen it and a lot of people rave about how good it is. I will give it a go shortly, all I know is the lead guy is a fittie. Ah well I think I will go now and read some of my book that I sneaked into the office.

I'm so totally into Dexter right now.

I would like to say that I have just ordered the first series box set of this awesome show and I cannot wait for it to arrive. I've been watching it on the FX channel and I. Just. LOVE. it. It toally replaced the hole in my TV viewing calender that was left when I finished Heroes series One. Oh and relating to Heroes, I just saw a preview teaser of Series 2 and I just want to eat it whole in one big bite. Yeah, anyway I know that I am sad. I have no excuse.
Went out last night to Claddagh for some catching up with friends, Sue & Laurie have just come back from their honeymoon. They found the bench that we had bought for them and left in their garden as a pressie. And I'm off for lunch in a bit with Rachel, although I just ate some M&S pasta that was in the fridge. I have a little wee hangover, which always seems to be the case when I blog for some reason.
I've just read that paragraph back and I know that it is shit but I can't be bothered to change it.
My hair is frizzy, I have a slight headache and I'm restless. Have some sympathy.

This is Molly

...Chief thrower-upper, hair-depositer, poo-skidder, early morning waker-upper and generally downright smelly, cute, annoying and very fluffy feline. There is something a little sinister in her expression, a sort of "I may decide to kill you later"warning, but she wouldn't hurt a fly, or a spider. I have tried to get her to hunt spiders but she just fixes them with an evil glare before moving on. She is my little girl, sorry to get gooey, but there you have it.

Another weekend gone, and I am a la work. You can imagine it better now eh! So I can't spend too long here as there is stuff to be getting on with. We went out on the boat yesterday in the rough ocean waves, we were buffeted and splashed and Nick nearly sent me overboard at one point by falling over on to me. The waves were fairly large and choppy, and at one point we were going at the perfect speed and managed to surf them!! That was kind of very cool.

Backtracking, on Saturday we went up in a little aeroplane which was so great! I had bought my husband a trial flying lesson for his birthday and they let me sit in the back and come along for the ride. We went up the west coast of Guernsey before heading across the sea to Alderney. The sky was clear, the sun was shining and reflecting off the sea, it was an absolutely beautiful day and we had such an amazing view of the islands which seemed so small. Nick took the controls and did various manouvers, turning about, going up and down, speeding up and slowing down, it felt like being in a small mini in the sky as the inside is so small! I took lots of photos which I will try to put on facebook at some point. We flew at a couple of thousand feet, looped Alderney and came back along the East of Guernsey so that we could look down at our house. The pilot, Ian, was brilliant and I felt totally safe the entire time.

That afternoon we spent most of it at the Terrace drinking milkshake, before heading to the Boathouse for tea with a few friends. A lovely day.

Calculate how much WATER you use

Click Here to do a fun online quiz and see how mush of a wastrel you are. Apparentely we use 81 litres per person, per day, in our household, which is less than the National Average of 155litres.

Carbon footprint, blah blah...

My Shoes just Broke

Or to be more correct, my right sandal strap has untethered itself from the sole and is flappy wildly with every step I take. Which is annoying. I have only just discovered it and am debating whether there is 'just cause' to pop home and change shoes. My boss isn't in this afternoon anyway so I guess I could pretty much just do it. I can still walk, as they are the sort of sandals that have multiple straps, or 4, as I have just counted, but I look like an idiot.

I was very naughty this morning and stole two large cooking apples from a house I was doing a viewing at. I suppose that is scrumping, is it? Anyway I picked some blackberries the other day so a pie is going to be made, possibly tonight. This tree had loads of apples on it so I don't think they would really mind. It was quite a rural house and there was a very large cockerel following me around the garden, watching me doing my scrumping. It got quite brave and came up quite close until I stopped to look at it, that made it dash away, but as soon as I turned my back it came right up to me again. Quite cute, although there is something very 'Velociraptor'-ish about chickens which freaks me out a little I must admit. Too much Jurassic Park for my own good.

So I saw the Bourne Ultimatum last night with my Dad, yes it was good. I can't for the life of me remember what happened in the last film but it didn't really matter. Tonight we have The Holiday to watch which looks incredibly cheesy, we'll see. My Pan's Labyrinth DVD has just arrived and I'm very much looking forward to watching that again, it rocks. I also recently splashed out on 'Howls Moving Castle' which I haven't watched yet. And I am currently reading the book of Battle Royale which has just been released in the UK, translated from the Japanese. It is very very good, I love it.

Only 1 hour and seventeen minutes until lunch

Hello folks. I am at work and it is a Saturday. I have my fan wafting gently at my face as it is rather stuffy in my little office. Nick popped in a while ago and I gave him a full tour (I've only been working here 3 years, he never pops in!), all he kept saying was "its really dated". Well I guess I've been here for so long I look beyond the brown carpet and 70's office kitchen.

I am off at 1pm to meet him & Rachel for lunch. I need to stop eating dark chocolate digestives because I won't have an appetite. I had one a little while ago, I find the taste lingers in ones mouth for quite a long time with the McVities ones, not that that's a bad thing as they are my favourite.

Last night I was a complete lazy-ass and cooked a frozen meal and watched Night at the Museum, which, surprisingly, was much better than I thought it was going to be, chiefly because I didn't realise that it had Steve Coogan AND Ricky Gervais in it. Great! Steve Coogan was a Roman officer, he is such a legend.

I'm getting a bit paranoid sat here because I am basically in one large goldfish bowl and people outside can easily see in. Fortunately they can't see my computer screen, unless they have really good eyesight, I mean superhero level.

I think I might try to persuade Rachel & Nick to come blackberrying this afternoon. Joy!
