Happy Halloween!

Or Samhain, whatever floats your boat.

I am off to the local cinema club tonight to see this old horror flick called The Innocents, with Deborah Kerr. It is supposed to be what The Others is based on and sounds quite spooky.

Rachel's Halloween Party 2007!

Rachel is such a legend. She really goes to town every Halloween. This year, she wallpapered her living room into a scary cemetary, invited a load of drunken people round, and proceeded to throw a Halloween party that featured Pass the Parcel and Balloon games.. Great!! I baked some bat shaped biscuits, made Halloween rum punch featuring floating eyeballs, and some extremely potent vodka jelly that no one could eat. My outfit, as you can see above, was some kind of a red flame lady person. The person next to me is the hostess with the mostest. The inflatable pumpkin below is Sue. She had the best tights on but you can't see them in this pic.

Rachel sporting a very attractive mask.
I am flame girl, I will kill you with my orange cocktail.

The pic below shows the wallpaper that she decorated her flat with, awesome!!

Work

Yesterday, I flirted with the idea of becoming a Prison Officer, because that was the only job that wasn't in finance and I could understand what it was. I can see myself, plodding down dimly lit corridors jangling my keys while getting occasionally spat at by surly inmates. I could learn how to do stuff like the Vulcan death grip and one inch punch to control them. No? Can't see it? Well, maybe not. Maybe I will try to write a novel. I have read so many Mills & Boon ( I developed a fixation with the really dated 60's/70's ones a few years back, much to Nick's horror) - I reckon I could vomit up a few sickly love stories, no trouble.

Yesterday our house exchanged in the UK that we have been selling. It hasn't completed yet but it's great news that it's exchanged. Its a weight off our minds. My husband has already bought a new car in the UK to ship back to Guernsey with the proceeds, unfortunately it is not a Hello Kitty car, but a rather larger masculine 4X4, perfect for Guernsey roads! Not. It is very comfy though, and will so long journeys very well when we pop back over.

A cup of tea awaits for me.

I want this car SO badly...

My latest obsession has to be the Mitsubishi i - Hello Kitty edition. I might actually be prepared to kill someone to have this car. It has kitty shaped headrests!!! Who could possibly want for more? Seriously, if my budget could stretch to it I would definitely buy this car. At least my husband would never want to borrow it. I don't usually go nuts about cars but this is so Japanese and cool, I just love it.

Another day, another zzzzzzzzzz...

So, it's another quiet day in the office. Not so much for me, as I have several viewing appointments in my diary, but I am feeling particularly sorry for my colleagues who are office bound and wallowing in boredom. Some days the phone just doesn't ring, and some days it rings off the hook, and today is one of the former, unfortunately. I have just amused myself, while I am here in the office, by eating a smelly packet of spicy Wotsits. And now I blog for your dubious viewing pleasure.

I watched Spiderman 3 last night, on my own, with the end of a large bar of dairy milk. It was OK, but kind of a disappointment after how great the previous two films were. Tobey Maguire's face is kind of odd as well, he is getting a bit hamstery.

I went to the cinema the night before to see Stardust, which I absolutely adored beyond adoration into the realms of the psycho fan who might actually go and see it a second time... And on Sunday, the night before that, Rachel came around and we watched Lady in the Water, which gave me nightmares. There is a large evil wolf dog in it called a 'Scrunt' which terrified me. It hides in the long grass, lying in wait, and its back is covered in grass so you can't see it. The only way to tell that it's there is to hold up a mirror to it and you will see it's red eyes in the mirror. See what I mean!? It's giving me shivers just writing about it. I think it touched a bit of a nerve because it is very similar to the wolf Gmork in the Neverending Story, which made me scream out loud and jump out of my seat when I first watched it.

If I talk about this any more I am not going to be able to sleep tonight.

Avast Ye!

OK, enough Pirate talk. Dontcha find it is everywhere these days? I do. I was kind of cool, like Little Britain or Ali G were once cool, a very very long time ago before they were discovered by Clintons cards, but now I am getting a little sick of all this Pirating. Actually, I am a bit of a hypocrite as I am a Pirate on facebook. But still...

Life is good thankyou, with sunshine followed by cloudy skies, and intermittent rain showers.

I watched Breakfast at Tiffanys last night with Nick, as can you believe, he had never seen it! That boy, sheeesh. So in honour, I am having an Aufrey Hepburn kind of day, inasmuch that I don't look anything like her but I am wearing pearls and lots of black. And if I had to go anywhere or do anything important I would put some lipstick on to do it.

Tonight, I am going out for a tennerfest, er, again. This is only the third one I've done so far though, I am not a massive glutton. I am also wildly excited about going to the cinema to see Stardust some time next week. Nick is away for a while so I am going to do lots of girlie stuff while he's gone, this being one of them. I am currently reading Phantom, by Terry Goodkind, as well as Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks, both of which I am enjoying immensely. That is my cultural round up!

I also have very sad news.... the little kitten, we found out it didn't make it. It was just so dehydrated and anaemic they couldn't save it. Broke my heart, it did.

Over the weekend, I loafed around, went to Sue & Lauries for a lovely BBQ on Sunday and also went to Lihou island as the house was open for a look around. Pics on facebook of the BBQ.

Sympathy please!

Hiya, so after my last post which was all lovely and full of outdoorsy goodness, I have been sick as a dog the last couple of days.... sore throat, reams of mucus, excessive tiredness and a very cloudy head. So I have been off work and watching lots of telly and reading lots of books.

But! I am back in work today, sniffing olbas oil and drinking barrocas. I spent the day yesterday making a photo album in the internet of our favourite wedding pictures, which took me around 6 hours! I had to have a serious nap after that. I have also been watching lots of telly, films including the Korean film Host (verdict: rubbish!) The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (verdict: rubbish, but strangely enjoyable) and Pecker (verdict: quite good actually). Also Ugly Betty, old episodes of Heroes and other similar such stuff. A very productive couple of days then! I finished the book 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter' which wasn't a patch on the TV series I'm afraid.

Cliff Walks, Beaches and Kittens

On Saturday morning, it was such a glorious late summer day of sun, so we decided to go on a cliff walk from Icart to Petit Bot and back again. We tromped across these cliffs...

And eventually ended up at Petit Bot beach. which by the way is a beautiful place...
And I introduced Nick to this cave, which I used to play in as a wee nipper. Spooky!
Nick had lots of fun making drippy castles out of wet sand...
And we rolled up our trousers and went for a cooling paddle. Then we pigged out on nachos and chicken wraps at La Tapitas cafe, but I didn't take photos of that.

On the way back to Icart we spotted this wee litttle fella all on its own in the undergrowth. We weren't sure what to do so phoned the GSPCA who told us to catch it and bring it to them...
I managed to catch it and then had to complete the 2 mile cliff walk carrying a wee moggy along with me. We got it to the shelter who told us it was severly anaemic and very underweight, and probably would have died if we had left it so yay! Go us! Saving baby animals. We called the shelter this morning who have told us that it is OK but will be at the vets for a few more days. I obviously wanted to adopt it but Nick put his foot down. But if it isn't claimed then my cousin could give it a really good home.

And here is an owl that I made out of sand to finish this tale. Twit Twoooooooo.

8 Minutes to 5

8 Minutes to 5
8 Minutes to 5
La la la la la la laaaaaaa
8 Minutes to 5

Come on I want to make like a seagull and get the flock outta here! OK..

7 Minutes to 5
7 Minutes to 5
la la la la la la laaaaaaa
7 Minutes to 5.

I could go on, but I type to fast and it's still 7 minutes to 5. Bugger. I am almost about to leave work, its a Friday and I have the weekend off with many exciting plans of doing SOD all and taking it easy.... perhaps with a couple of tennerfests thrown in. (If you're not from Guernsey you won't understand my cleverness there.)

Right, I'm shutting down.....
