Hello Again

Hiya, I am back for a chat. It's so silly, as soon as I think "I know, I've got a spare 5 mins, I'll blog something witty and profound" I sit here and my mind goes completely blank. What is with that? My brain is shy, or something.

I really don't have much to say, or much that I can say here about what is going on in my life at the moment, for fear of the 'wrong' people reading it, which is a shame. I should have kept this more private then I could have screamed and shouted about absolutely everything! Ah but no, decorum is undoubtably a good thing.

And weird! I have just had a phone call literally stalling my brain flow and it means I have to leave the office now, so cheerie! Another great blog entry...

Pics from Sue & Lauries Wedding

& the Beach BBQ the following day..

Zuh Zuh Zuh Zuh Zuh

... that is part of a reaaaaally annoying song by P Diddy or someone equally irritating. I'm also annoyed with Kanye West at the moment for slaughtering that Daft Punk song 'Do it faster make it stronger etc' with his irritating singy songy over the top bit. Boo to him.

I have had a great great great long weekend, which sadly is over, and now I am dealing with DIFFICULT clients with demands today. Work does suck sometimes really.

One of my old schoolfriends got herself hitched at the weekend which was great, a really beautiful wedding and epic reception on the clifftops of sunny Guernsey. The following day there was a chilled out beach BBQ as well, all in all it was pretty perfect. I am going to post some pictures to show you. They are all from facebook so if you are on facebook you have probably seen them already. Yesterday we took Jeannie out to Fermain and saw Chris & Sonia on thier boat as well, it was choppy, about force 4 so a bit splashy. Pics to follow...

Things that are Entertaining Me in my Life Today

I wanted to compile a list, because I'm in that sort of mood. Humour me.
  1. The Terry Goodkind 'Sword of Truth' series. I'm currently on book 7 out of 11, and I love them for their great, rip roaring, not afraid to be a litttle bit cheesy heroic/high fantasy plots and characters. Also the political/philosophical undertones are pretty interesting.
  2. 'Veronika Decides to Die' by Paulo Coelho. Lovely stuff, (to quote Alan Partridge). I'm nearly finished, it's not a long book.
  3. Office Space, a film I watched the other night, and ended up watching 3 times because I wanted both Rachel & Nick to see it too. Great film!!
  4. Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics. I just recently got into them and wow. They are great.
  5. My new green shoes. Ahhhhh they are pretty, and also so shiny and green.
  6. Online scrabble, cos I am a saddo and its so very quiet at work right now.
  7. Paella. With haddock. I am making it a lot.

That is all I can think of. I have a poo story to tell you. I was eating my breakfast this morning (wheetos if you are interested) and Molly jumped up onto my lap so a bit of attention/body heat while I was sat at the table. I was wearing my black skirt and when I stood up and she jumped off there were all these brown swidgy marks on my skirt. She has a pooey bottom! As I was running late for work I quickly whipped off my skirt, bunged it into the wash, washed my hands thoroughly (yes I touched it) and put on some trousers. So I have survived cat shit already today. What else will the day bring, I wonder?

I feel very profound

I found out the official names of my two new nephews last night, when on the phone to my sister. So welcome to the world . . .
Rowan David Gill
and...

Ralph Samuel Gill

That's right!!!!!!

Lord help his little cottons because the wee blighter has been named after me! His rather naughty and bound-to-be-a-bad-influence auntie!! I am absolutely made up, and filled with such a warm, snuggly feeling of happiness all over. It's one of those feelings that money just can't buy really. I couldn't be happier/prouder/slightly scared for the poor chap. I hope when he gets older his friends don't rib him for being named after a girl.

Hmmm

August isn't going too well so far. Only one blog, this being the second. What a lame-ass. The thing is, it is the SUMMER and I am trying to get out and about, do stuff, and I have also been reading a lot of good books which has kept me away from wanting to get on the computer.

That said, I am at work now and cannot read my lovely books. I can, however, pretend to my colleagues that I am working hard tap tap tapping away on the keyboard when in fact I am doing nothing that resembles work at all. It has been one of those boring days when I am actually hoarding up things to do so that I can keep fully occupied. For instance, I know that I have to get in my car and deliver some papers to some advocates, but I am procrastinating this and I could have done it much earlier, but then I wouldn't have anything to look forward to.

The thing about my job it that it seems to be one extreme or the other, either manic busy or dead slow. The icing on the cake is that I have a late appointment this evening to view a house with a lady who I have already sussed out on the phone and I know that she will absolutely hate the property, yet I still have to go. Boo.

I finally have my husband back after two weeks away, and he's not going anywhere for a while. Since I last blogged I have been on a bus party hen night, and to a wedding reception. For the non-Guernsey people reading this I should explain that a bus party is a fairly frantic pub crawl around the island on a bus (doh!), where you only have time for a quick short drink in each pub, then you have to get on a moving vehicle and on to the next. You end up losing people, getting sickeningly drunk and falling down a lot. I used to go on them when I was at school and there were awful injuries with people falling off (Ant!!). Moving vehicles and booze don't go, in my book. But anyway I survived it. Then on Sat I went to a lovely reception where people played air guitar, fell over (Sue!!) and drank lots of wine (Me).

I Been Busy!

Grandios apologies for my lack of action of late, and I'm afraid this isn't going to be a really long entry. I am pretty tired, and intend to get off the internet soon so I can curl up for a hour or so of telly before bed.

Well, I have been away, off the rock so to speak, to the UK for a long weekend. On Friday I flew into Bristol and met up with Nick, who has been over all last week and is still over at the moment. Six of us went out to a noodle bar, I forget the name but it began with a 'B' (Budokans?), the sort of funky place where you all sit on along one loooong table. Nick, myself, Rew, Charlotte, James R & Miranda all came out, I hadn't met Miranda before & had only met Charlotte once so it was cool to spend some time with them.

On Sat am we drove up the M5 to Bredons Norton, a minute village near Pershore in Worcestershire, where we booked into a guesthouse, got changed and went up to Deer Park Hall for Claire & Nicks wedding!! It was SO LOVELY. A gorgeous day, despite the recent floods that the locals were telling us all about. We got really pissed, barn danced etc until the wee hours. The only sad thing was that I saw an owl die. They have been starving to death around there because all of the mice/voles were drowned in the floods so they can't find food. This one was at the guesthouse in the carpark and as we were there it fell off its plant pot and died. Horrible, as it made me think of Hedwig.

On Sunday we drove to Wiltshire and went to Longleat Safari Park! We just did the drive bit, rather than the whole House, it was awesome!! Didn't go into the monkey bit as we were in James' really nice car and them monekys are NASTY. We got up close and personal with lions, tigers, wolves, buffalos, rhinos and a lot of other very cool creatures though!! The deer enclosure was closed unfortunately due to the foot and mouth outbreak so we didn't get to feed them which was a shame. James' parents, Enid & Chris, run a guesthouse right by Longleat and they kindly invited us for lunch. Their house is a beautiful old place in large grounds, Nick had lots of fun with their ride-on mower & Enid made us a beautiful lunch. That night we drove back to Bristol and stayed at Miranda's flat, watche Saw 3 & ate pizza.

That brings me up to yesterday which we spent in Bristol. We spent nearly the whole day at Cribbs Causeway (got to get some shopping in!!) and then my lovely husband surprised me with a nights stay at the Bristol Hotel du Vin! We had a pretty special room with two floors and a bathroom upstairs with a balcony overlooking the bedroom(!) and last night we drank some incredible wine and ate some rather lovely food in their restaurant, which is one of Bristols best. We haven't suddenly won the lottery by the way, Nicks sister works for the hotel chain and got us a very good rate! We didn't really do anything for our Anniversary so it was especially lovely. I say it was a surprise, I knew Nick was planning something and the night before I dreamed that he was taking me to the Hotel du Vin - Spooky!!

OK my eyes are starting to glaze over now, time for bed, xx
